Yalata and Oak Valley DHPBackground AMRRIC was approached in September 09 by RSPCA (SA) to support a pilot Dog Health Program (DHP) in the Indigenous communities of Yalata and Oak Valley.
Originally the visit was scheduled for Nov 29-Dec 5 2009 however due to a sudden death of a local traditional owner it was postponed at the last minute.
The inaugural RSPCA (SA) DHP occurred at Oak Valley (Surgery in full swing pictured R) and Yalata from April 12-17, 2010. Due to another death, most of the population of Yalata were in sorry camp at the time.
Yalata is an Aboriginal community of about 200 people adjacent to the Nullabor Highway. Oak Valley is about 210 kms N of Yalata and NW of Maralinga.
Team
The excellent working group (pictured below) consisted of:

· Sam Hobbs- RSPCA inspector/rescue officer
· Dr Robyn Stokes- RSPCA veterinarian
